Clean Stations

Working With You

The Urban Essex Coalition for Smart Growth was established in 2013 as a forum for municipalities, non-profits, business and other organizations and individuals to work together to foster mixed-use development and economic growth around the five commuter rail stations in Essex County, New Jersey. The stations are all on NJ TRANSIT’s Morris & Essex Line:

  • Broad Street Station in Newark
  • East Orange Station
  • Brick Church Station
  • Orange Station
  • Highland Avenue Station

The Coalition will:

  • Support smart growth
  • Pursue mixed-use Transit Oriented  Development
  • Encourage a wide range of housing choices
  • Collaborate for efficient decision-making
  • Promote a shared vision for the station areas
  • Involve the public in its activities
  • Identify opportunities for development and redevelopment
  • Market and promote the Corridor’s potential
  • Attract resources from non-profits, foundations, financial institutions, and the government to achieve its vision
